In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), the lifeless body of Mbah Ezinne, a final-year student in the Department of Anatomy, was discovered in her apartment on July 31, 2023. The unsettling discovery has left her family and peers in a state of grief and disbelief.
Ezinne was spotted last in the company of her friends during a vibrant night of praise. This gathering, held on the evening of Friday, July 28, 2023. The group parted ways around 4:00 am on Saturday, anticipating the Youth Day festivities set to take place on Sunday, July 30.
Disturbingly, when the church service commenced on that fateful Sunday, attempts to contact Ezinne proved futile. A disheartening voice prompt repeatedly indicated that her mobile phone was out of reach. Concern quickly turned to worry, and worry to panic, as Monday morning arrived and still, there was no sign of Ezinne.
Her brother, Stephen, joined by close friends, decided to visit her residence to ascertain her safety. Upon arrival, they were met with a scene that would forever alter their lives. Peering through the window, they discovered Ezinne lying motionless on the floor, accompanied by a male friend who was later revealed to be a fellow student and coursemate.
Neighbors and local residents advised caution before any further action was taken, urging them to involve the authorities. Law enforcement arrived at the scene, and both Ezinne and her male companion were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital.Tragically, medical professionals pronounced Ezinne deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
It was further gathered that the male friend is still battling for his life in the hospital.
