Nnanyerugo Best, the popular social media influencer known as Killaboi, who had confessed to the murder of Augusta Osedion on Instagram in July 2023, has been apprehended in Sierra Leone following the Nigerian police’s declaration of his wanted status in connection with the murder of his girlfriend.
Killaboi had initially expressed willingness to turn himself in but ultimately chose to evade Nigerian authorities.
Killaboi had been on the run since July 13, 2023, when he allegedly killed his girlfriend, 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion.
Reports indicate that Nnanyereugo changed his identity to Kanu Princeton Samuel and reportedly acquired a Sierra Leonean passport for $25,000 under this new alias.
He was taken into custody at a nightclub in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he was in the company of some ladies.
The Lagos Police media officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has officially confirmed the arrest of the 26-year-old social media influencer. SP Hundeyin has also disclosed that the Lagos Police is currently in the process of repatriating the suspect back to Nigeria.
Before the issuance of the arrest warrant, Killaboi took to his Instagram account @Killaboigram to confess to accidentally stabbing his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, during a heated argument in July.
He stated that his emotions of pain, betrayal, and infidelity fueled his actions. Killaboi expressed profound remorse and regret, acknowledging that his emotional turmoil and the perceived betrayal by the deceased had culminated in his tragic actions.
At the young age of 26, the socialite expressed deep regret for the unfortunate incident and vowed to ensure that justice is served for his late girlfriend by willingly surrendering himself to the authorities.
He also admitted to fleeing the scene after the incident and shared a message he had sent to Augusta’s grieving mother.
Augusta’s mother paid a visit to Killaboi’s residence at Oral Estate in the Ikota area of Lagos State, seeking answers.
Eyewitnesses have asserted that law enforcement officers who gained access to his apartment by scaling the fence discovered the girlfriend’s body in a mutilated state, with reports suggesting the absence of vital organs.
Killaboi had previously made headlines in 2021 when he was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for conducting a N150 million point-of-sale (POS) transaction using a stolen card. He was arrested at a hotel in Umuahia and was unable to escape custody.
